Giving An Apartment Home A Natural Touch - Kansas City Apartment and Rental decorating advice

Whether you live in the big city or on the outskirts, the hustle and bustle of a rental community can make a tenant long for the serenity of nature. The problem is finding it in an apartment community. There are ways, however, that you can make your apartment home a natural oasis.

There are several personal touches that can be added to almost any apartment home to give it the feel of the country right in the city. They include:

  • Adding houseplants. This is a great way to bring a little bit of nature indoors. They can even be used to block ugly views from sight. Try plants that are recommended for indoor use and incorporate them into the apartment home’s décor. Fresh cut flowers, too, can really add to the look. Try changing them out on a weekly basis to give the home a fresh, new feel. If fresh doesn’t work, tried dried flowers to give the indoors a special feel.
  • Bird feeders, rock gardens and other natural touches. These are great to add if you have a little bit of space to do so. Feeders can even be added to a window if there’s no porch. Rock gardens work great in small porch areas, too. Plus, if you do have a patio area, a fountain can really lend to the feeling of serenity. Turning even a tiny back porch into a personal garden can give your rental a homey feel.
  • Landscape artwork. Bring some of the great outdoors in by decorating with artistic landscapes. Whether it’s framed posters, prints or paintings of landscapes or animals, these can really help give a home a natural appeal.
  • Natural light bulbs. Using these helps give a home a more natural feel. They are especially beneficial in homes that don’t receive a lot of direct sunlight.
  • Wreaths. Few things are more welcoming at a front door than decorative wreaths. They instantly give a home a welcoming feel.
  • Pets. If they’re allowed, they really can make coming home special.

With the right touch, any apartment home can be turned into a personal oasis – even if it’s in the middle of a big city. Try what appeals to you and have fun doing so and you’ll find there’s nothing like coming home.
